If you are a mom and you are always tired, listen to me.
You sleep, but you still wake up tired.
You eat, but you still feel weak.
You rest, but your mind never rests.
People will tell you, "It's just the kids. All moms are tired."
That's not true.
Sometimes it's not the kids draining you. It's the people around you.
These are 10 signs someone is draining your energy as a mom.
If you are in 5 or more, you need to protect your health now, not later.
1. You wake up tired, even after 7 hours sleep:
You sleep early. You sleep long. But in the morning you still feel like you didn't sleep.
That's not normal tiredness. That's emotional tiredness.
When someone drains you during the day - with complaints, demands, shouting, silent treatment, or always needing you - your body does not rest at night. Your mind keeps working. Your heart keeps beating fast.
2. You do everything, and no one notices:
You cook. You clean. You wash. You take kids to school. You remember everybody's birthday. You pay bills. You settle fights.
Nobody says thank you. Nobody asks, "Are you okay?"
Instead they ask, "Where is my food? Where is my shirt? Why is the house dirty?"
When you do everything and no one sees you, you start to feel invisible. Invisible makes you tired inside.
3. You feel guilty when you rest:
This is a big sign.
You sit down for 10 minutes and your mind says, "Get up, you are lazy. Other moms are working."
So you get up, even when your back is paining, even when your head is paining.
Rest is not laziness. Rest is health.
4. You snap at your kids, then cry after:
When your friend, or family member drains you all day, you have no patience left for your kids. Your cup is already empty. Then a small thing makes it overflow.
Your kids are not the problem. They are just getting the leftover anger from what someone else did to you.
5. Your body is always paining :
Many moms think it's malaria. Or typhoid. Or they need vitamins.
Sometimes it's not sickness. It's stress.
Drained energy shows in the body as:
- Headache that comes every evening
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Back pain even when you didn't carry heavy thing
- Stomach upset, no appetite or too much appetite
- Heart beating fast when someone calls you
6. You have no one to tell the truth to:
You smile outside. You post happy pictures. But inside you are crying.
You cannot tell your husband because he will say you are complaining.
You cannot tell your mother because she will say "we all passed through it."
You cannot tell your friend because she will gossip.
So you keep everything inside. And what you keep inside can drain energy.
7. You give money, time, and help, but nobody gives back:
You lend money and they never pay back.
You help them with their kids, but they never help with yours.
You listen to their problems for 2 hours, but when you have a problem, they say "I will call you back" and never call.
You are the strong one. The one everybody runs to. But when you need help, there is nobody.
That is draining. Because love should go both ways. Not one way.
8. You feel not too good:
Ask yourself this honest question: When was the last time you did something just for you?
Not for kids. Not for husband. Not for family. Just for you.
If you cannot remember, it might mean you are drained
9. You are always angry or always crying:
One day you are angry at everybody. Next day you are crying for no reason.
People will say you have "mood swings" or "you are hormonal."
No. You are overwhelmed.
When someone drains you every day - with disrespect, or too many demands - your emotions will be up and down. That's your body trying to tell you something is wrong.
10. You feel peace when that person is not around:
This is the biggest sign of all.
When that person travels, or goes to work, or is not in the house, you feel free. You breathe better. You laugh more. You sleep better.
But when they come back, your chest becomes tight again. Your headache comes back.
Pay attention to that feeling. Your body is not lying to you.
How Do You Protect Your Energy As A Mom?
1. Morning boundary: Don't touch your phone for first 20 minutes. Drink water. Pray or breathe. Start your day with you.
2. Afternoon rest: 30 minutes rest, no cooking, no washing. Your body needs it to make breast milk, to heal, to think well.
3. Night release: Before sleep, write 3 lines: "What drained me today? What gave me joy today? What will I say no to tomorrow?" That small writing will save your health.
Final Thought
You are not lazy. You are not weak. You are not a bad mom.
You are just drained.
If this post described you, share it to another mom. She might be going through it in silence too.
You deserve rest. You deserve respect. You deserve health.
